Helping Hand
A Global Network of Care and Compassion
Helping Hand is the humanitarian arm of AMURT (Ananda Marga Universal Relief Team) and AMURTEL, working to bring emergency relief and long-term community development to vulnerable populations worldwide. Since its founding in India in 1965, AMURT has expanded to more than 100 countries, offering hope, dignity, and sustainable support to communities in crisis.
Mission
- Provide urgent assistance to people facing calamities, conflict, and disasters, whether natural or human-made.
- Improve the quality of life for disadvantaged and marginalized populations around the globe.
- Support sustainable development by helping communities harness their own resources and secure the necessities of life.
- Build resilient communities where economic, social, and spiritual well-being thrive in harmony with cultural traditions.
Our Principles
- Every human being deserves dignity, respect, and fundamental rights such as food, shelter, medical care, and education.
- The earth’s resources must be used justly and equitably to meet these needs.
- Development should maintain balance—between people and the environment, urban and rural areas, wealth and poverty.
- Lasting change begins within local cultures and traditions, empowering communities to shape their own future.
- The active participation of women is essential for the harmonious development of families, communities, and society at large.
