Schools and Children’s Homes in Disadvantaged Communities
Ananda Marga operates numerous schools and children's homes worldwide, focusing on providing education, shelter, and holistic development to children from marginalized communities. These initiatives aim to uplift disadvantaged children, offering them opportunities for a brighter future.
Ananda Marga Children’s Home – Mumbai, India
Established in the mid-1980s with just six children, the Ananda Marga Children’s Home in Mumbai has grown to accommodate 20 children aged 18 months to 25 years. Many of these children are orphans or come from impoverished families unable to provide for them. The home offers a nurturing environment where children receive education, engage in extracurricular activities, and develop life skills. Notably, one blind child, who joined at age four, completed a B.Ed. and now teaches at a high school in Mumbai.
Schools in Haiti
Ananda Marga runs two schools in Haiti—one in Port-au-Prince and another in Anse-à-Pitre—serving over 300 children. These schools are situated in areas severely affected by poverty and the 2010 earthquake. In collaboration with the UN, Ananda Marga is working with families in seven camps for individuals displaced by the earthquake, providing education and support to help them rebuild their lives.
